“Josephine worked with me to create the most beautiful stained glass windows for my studio space. She took in all of my requests for what I wanted the piece to convey, considered what colors I wanted and then came back with a proposal for what it could look like. I fully expected her to come up with something beautiful, but the amazing work of art that I have in my home today even exceeded my expectations!”

When you commission work this is the process we’ll be going through. Use the form on the right to get the conversation going about your custom piece.
Step 1: Initial Consultation
An initial meeting, typically at the client’s home or office, provides an opportunity to determine their artistic and decorative tastes, the location aesthetics, any site constraints, and especially lighting conditions. When a personal site visit is not possible, this conversation can happen on the phone, via email or Skype, or through architectural drawings & photos.
Step 2: Design Proposal
Certain considerations are always taken into account: lighting conditions, visibility/obscurity desired, form, color, artistic aesthetics, subject matter, and of course the budget. For a signature “Landscape Mosaic”, a concept proposal would include an inspiration image and verbal descriptions of the glass and artistic vision. If more detail is needed, a scaled sketch of the artwork may also be included.
Step 3: Design Contract
Clients are invited to the studio to see and touch the glass chosen for their artwork whenever possible, but glass samples will be sent upon request. After presenting the proposal and the client approves the design concept, a contract is signed and down-payment is paid.
Step 4: Fabrication & Installation
Clients are always welcome to visit the studio in Saint Paul to see the work in progress. If a physical visit is not feasible, photos will be taken and sent to you of the progress. For example, this series of fabrication images shown below (‘Supernova’) were for a client in New York City.
J. A. Geiger Studio provides complete installation services, but if you would prefer to do it yourself, we will give you detailed, easy to follow instructions.
