When I was working on my list of accomplishments for 2014, I also made the decision to invest in growing my business this year. Specifically in setting up and IMPLEMENTING systems to market my work and better get it out into the world.

So I signed up for Alyson B. Stanfield’s Art Biz Bootcamp. And even though it’s only been a week, I can already feel the shift in my energy. The first week’s lesson forced me to confront a number of “beliefs” that are actually not true, even though I have in essence made them into self-fulfilling prophecies. We all know them as self-doubt, excuses, and various means of procrastination.2012 SMASH!

And in examining these self-imposed limits, I discovered that it is really difficult to reframe a negative thought/action/belief into a positive affirmation, begin to let it go and embrace the positive potential. This shouldn’t be a revelation. It took me over 4 years to decide to let go of old work and “Smash” the remains to make room for growth. Now instead of smashing something physically, I am shattering my mental barriers to retool my brain so I can move forward.

PS – Alyson requires you to sign a contract committing to doing the work. At first I thought this was kinda silly, but it has actually turned out to be one of the most difficult of the first week’s assignments to do. I’m committed to doing the work and have no illusions that it will be difficult, but I still haven’t signed the contract because that little piece of paper is scary… DONE!Bootcamp contract
